Strategic talent impact scan for an AI sales platform start-up

WolfCycle, a tech-forward B2B sales partner for the US sports and entertainment industry, was growing fast. Founding Partner Scott Kornfield knew he had a strong team and an enviable culture, but he also understood that leveling up his team for what was on the horizon wouldn’t happen by accident.

He wanted to invest in his people the right way. He just didn’t have the in-house bandwidth or talent strategy expertise to do it.

I plugged into his team to lead a strategic talent assessment across WolfCycle to understand where the organization was strong today and where they’ll need to invest to stay ahead.

Discovery

I anchored the work around three exploratory questions:

  • How do we equip leaders and teams to perform and innovate?
  • How can we embed our values into our DNA and ways of working?
  • How do we set people up to navigate the change and growth ahead?

My approach to deeply understand the current state:

  • 1:1 interviews with each senior leader
  • An employee-wide survey going deep into sentiment and reality
  • A deep dive into existing People processes, from onboarding to performance management

Design & Delivery

I delivered the Horizon Scan Report to the executive team following my holistic assessment. The report summarized the patterns, opportunities, and practical recommendations for what to do in the short, medium, and long term. 

These weren’t generic suggestions: they were targeted, informed activities built directly off of my organizational assessment and crafted for WolfCycle’s unique culture, goals, and tone.

The true impact

More than a long document, the Horizon Scan Report laid the groundwork for enhancing WolfCycle’s talent development strategy so that its people and culture could scale at the fast pace of its business. 

It led to my continued partnership with WolfCycle as fractional Talent Development Partner, paving the way for a communication boot camp and change leadership training to start closing the capability gaps flagged in the report.
